Street Stars DVDs and their producer Troy Reed have always served up urban documentaries even when there wasn't any money in the game. With nobody backing urban films, Troy Reed took his cameras places other cameras couldn't, bringing Street Stars DVDs to life with some of New York's most influential kingpins. From Alpo to Larry Davis to Karlton Hines, Reed's documentaries are hood famous. Finally with major distribution from Warner Brothers, THE ALPO STORY is Street Stars' first title seeing the light of day when it comes to the documentary-watching masses. With their best DVD in the series yet promised from the creators, you don't want to miss this DVD!
DESCRIPTION FROM THE PRODUCER:
Eagerly anticipated story about the most popular guy in the most trend-setting part of the world...Harlem. As a young boy growing up in Harlem, Alpo and his friends (AZ & Rich Porter from GAME OVER) took advantage of a power vacuum in the drug game after the head kingpins from the '70s were either killed or incarcerated. Through business savvy (offering the lowest drug prices in town), hard work (on the streets at 5:30am), and charismatic public relations (their civic generosity included bi-annual bbq's and 4th of July celebrations that everyone was invited to) Alpo became the unofficial "Mayor of Harlem". Watch as ambition turns to greed, which leads to murder.
