He calls himself the King, but the ATL's other Trap representer T.I. is having problem these daysa little bit of an identity crisis. He's trapped between being T.I., the self-made, life-loving, upper echelon rap celebrity and hood hero, and T.I.P., who battles personal demons of the past. Aggressive and rowdy at times, T.I.P. is a Trap-made and Trap-certfied hustler.
T.I. explained the albums title, saying, "Its basically a battle within myself. Theres not nobody out there doing what I do as well as I do it, so I see myself as worthy competition for myself."
It will be T.I.'s 5th solo album to date, most recently following his platinum album 'King.,' which was one of 2007's only platinum efforts and its only double-platinum album for the year. Originally "T.I. vs. T.I.P." was used by T.I. on his album 'Trap Muzik' to wage battle his split personalities, but only in the form of a song. Apparently its become a big enough problem its worth of an entire LP release. (We, of course, wish the best to T.I.)
Anchored by its first single, "Big Shit Poppin'" this new record from T.I. and his Grand Hustle/Atlantic family will be definitely some of the biggest sh*t of the year, by hip-hop standards. T.I. is a friendly dude, and there's no shortage of folks lining up to work with The King, including Young Jeezy, 50 Cent, Lil' Wayne, Jay-Z, Kanye, Mary J, Andre 3000, Eminem, his boy Justin Timberlake and a cast of super-producers: Just Blaze, Swizzy, Mannie Fresh, Wyclef, Kanyeezy...(isn't that enough?), Scott Storch, The Runners, Danja and more.
