What it do, what it do... Re-Up Records... Neighborhood Pusha and older brother Malice aka. The Clipse are pretty well known in the MixUnit circle. Along with Virginia's finest dopeboyz, we took We Got It 4 Cheap to a whole other level, twice over giving you the streets' hottest mixtapes from rap's most embattled and underrated emcees.
After "Grindin" out a platinum debut album thanks to 2002's hands-down anthem, the brothers' original Arista label was folded into Jive Records, where Malice and Pusha's follow-up effort was grinded to a halt. The pop-heavy label was busy pushing Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake, and The Clipse's colorful drug tales suddenly seemed unwelcomed.
Naturally, they brought it to the streets, venting their rap frustrations on their now-classic mixtape series We Got It 4 Cheap, released by our very own Clinton Sparks. The second volume spread like an epidemic, earning XXL Magazine's mixtape of the year honor and, more importantly, vaulting the brothers back into rap's upper echelon.
With the wait finally over, the We Got It 4 Cheap boys are back with those raw, metric raps. Their Neptunes-laced beats are also back. Both are in top form here, and with four years to refine their record, Malice and Pusha T have re-upped with a better product than their last shipment.
Their time in hip-hop pergatory has unleashed a fury within each of these brothers and they seem hungry as ever after facing the ultimate industry test. Hell Hath No Fury is crafted into 12 incredible records, with the lead singles "Mr. Me Too" and "Wamp Wamp" only giving a taste of the album's potency.
